BBC EastEnders Dean Wicks star teases more than one Christmas death in shock twist
There could be more than one death in EastEnders as the year comes to a close.
Actor Matt di Angelo, who recently reprised his role as Dean Wicks after seven years, teased that the festive episodes could lead to another death.
The 36-year-old made a shock return to Walford this October, giving Linda Carter the surprise of her life.
Viewers will be aware that she has struggled since his return, but her family and friends have rallied around her, supporting her.
It has been revealed that he has become one of the possibilities for the dead body this Christmas, given that he has angered Linda and the others with his return.
However other possibilities include Keanu Taylor, Rocky Cotton and Nish Panesar.
Speaking about the last couple of months, Matt revealed: "Dean is very much back in the Square now trying to make his business work and take care of his sick daughter.
"He’s trying his hardest to integrate into the community and make his business work.
"Dean very much thinks he’s innocent – he truly believes that so he is surprised that people who did believe him before, now don’t.
"So he’s having to deal with that, and he is finding that the people of Walford are standing behind Linda so he wants to change their mind. He doesn’t have a choice, he needs his life in Walford to work."
He is really looking forward to Christmas Day on EastEnders, describing it as an "institution".
"As a child, EastEnders was part of Christmas Day. It was part of the festivities just as much as the Queen’s speech.
"The day was as much about turkey as it was the EastEnders Christmas episode and EastEnders itself isn’t just a TV show, it’s an institution I’m always very proud to be a part of that."
But Christmas isn't going to be wholesome for one resident – or maybe even more.
Speaking about the big Christmas storyline, Matt teased: "If anyone deserves to wear the cufflinks, its Dean, but I think the more people that have those cufflinks in the lead up to Christmas, the better…"
Chris Clenshaw – the soap's executive producer – previously teased there could be more pairs of cufflinks.
Speaking to Inside Soap magazine, soap boss Chris Clenshaw teased: "You're going to be guessing right up until the very last moment. As we build through the autumn, stories come into play for each of The Six, building toward a big crescendo. And, while Phil currently has the cufflinks, keep your eyes peeled as they may not be the only pair come Christmas…"
