BBC Strictly’s Shirley Ballas talks spending Christmas apart from partner Danny
Shirley Ballas has opened up about spending Christmas away from her partner, Danny Taylor. The news comes as the Strictly Come Dancing judge revealed the pair have prior family commitments.
In a new Yuletide-themed interview, Shirley, 63, has said that she and Danny, 50, are getting ready to celebrate December 25th a little earlier than usual. The premature party comes as the actor is set to spend the day with his son.
Chatting to OK! Magazine, the professional dancer revealed that this year she will be setting up shop at The Savoy with her mother, Audrey, and her niece, Mary. Explaining her plans, Shirley said: “I’m excited to be taking my family to The Savoy. They were full but [restaurant director] Thierry Tomasin was kind enough to fit us in on a table in the corner!
“So I will be celebrating it with my mother, Mary and her fiancé, Augustine.” Elsewhere, Danny said: “Shirley and I will do a few things before Christmas.
“Normally I’m doing pantomime at this time of year but I’ve turned down panto so I can get to see Shirley and get to see my little boy.” He added that seeing the pair is the “most important” thing when it comes to the festive season.

Pledging her support to her partner, Shirley added: “We have separate plans because Danny has a lovely little boy up north. He’s a great dad.”
Elsewhere, the BBC judge has set the record straight on her and Danny’s relationship, and claims that marriage is now “off the table”.
The pair first started dating in 2019, and the star was spotted sporting a diamond ring on her left hand earlier this year.
Speaking to the publication about calling off their engagement, the author said: “There was a point there where I wanted to get married.
“I was pushing it, pushing it, pushing it, pushing it – and then there was one point where it was clear and obvious it was just me. So for me, marriage is off the table for now.”

Shirley also admitted that she has a “tendency” to “jump” into marriage.
“I thought I needed somebody, but I only need to rely on myself,” she explained.
The star was previously married to Sammy Stopford between 1980 and 1984 before tying the knot with fellow professional dancer Corky Ballas a year later.
The pair were married until 2007 and welcomed son Mark Ballas in 1986.
Strictly Come Dancing: The Final airs this Saturday at 7pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
