Shaughna Phillips breaks silence on ex Billy Webb as he’s jailed for 9 years
Shaughna Phillips has broken her silence on her ex-boyfriend Billy Webb's drugs arrest, after he was sentenced to nine years in prison.
The Love Island star, 28, welcomed daughter Lucia in April with Billy, who was arrested in January while Shaughna was 30 weeks pregnant. The pair are believed to have started dating in 2020 but largely kept their romance out of the spotlight.
Shaughna has since confirmed that her relationship with the father of her child is over, and now, following his sentencing after admitting conspiracy to supply 4.5kg of cocaine worth at least £360,000, she's opened up about what happened and how she's navigating eight-month-old Lucia's relationship with her dad while he's in prison.
The mum-of-one broke her silence on a new episode of her podcast, Oh Baby!, which she co-hosts with pal Holly Connolly. Holly, who had a baby at the same time as Shaughna, revealed that Shaughna hadn't been able to address the situation with Billy due to "legal reasons" but she is now able to "speak freely" following his sentencing.
Shaughna, who described herself as a "chronic oversharer, said she hadn't been able to "address" Billy's arrest in the way she wanted to, as she wanted to be as open as possible. She said that while she has been "dreading" filming this specific podcast episode, she felt she needed to "rip the plaster off".
The 28 year old said she was 30 weeks pregnant and had just come back from a holiday when she was told Billy had been arrested. She was on her way to take part in a Love Island podcast at the time, which she still attended despite receiving the difficult news.
She said: 'I couldn't do anything, so I had to carry on doing it. I've never listened back. I just had to carry on doing it. At first, I was like, 'Was he speeding?' I had absolutely no idea what it could even have been about. I had no idea. I had absolutely no idea. And I didn't know whether he was going to be coming home that night. I just had no idea."
Shaughna admitted she "never thought this was going to be my life" but said that bad things that have happened in the past – such as her dad passing away – are worse.
The Love Islander said: "This definitely wasn't what I ever planned. I never thought this was going to be my life. But I've had bad shit happen in my life before any of this happened. So I kind of draw on that. Obviously, my dad passed away when I was 22…before Christmas. To me, that is horrific."
Shaughna also confirmed she does take Lucia to visit her dad in prison as she doesn't want her daughter "think differently" of Billy, despite the situation.
The mum-of-one also said her relationship with her own dad influenced her decision, as she had the "best relationship ever" with him.
