Coronation Street star found it ‘difficult’ to watch soap as she details exit

Coronation Street: Lucy Fallon on Bethany Platt’s storyline

Coronation Street star Lucy Fallon, who plays Bethany Platt, has revealed she found it hard to watch the ITV soap after she left.

The soap star made her exit from the cobbles back in 2020 when her character left to start a career in London, leaving behind her family and friends.

However, after a few years away, she’s returned to Weatherfield and is set to rustle a few feathers with her arrival.

Speaking to Express.co.uk and other media publications, the soap star touched on whether or not she kept up to date with the show on her break.

Lucy replied: “To be fair, I’ve seen main storylines like the acid attack and bigger ones but I’ll be honest, when I first left I found it quite hard.

“I didn’t really want to watch it, I found it quite difficult. It made me quite sad! I felt sad that I’d left so I found it difficult to watch and then when you have a baby it’s hard to catch loads of episodes of Corrie!

“I’m back into it now though, I’m up to date now.”

Touching on her first day back on set, the soap star revealed she only had scenes with her on-screen mum Tina O’Brien.

However; despite being a long-standing cast member, Lucy confessed she was extremely nervous about returning to the show.

She added: “It was fine because I know everyone and I’d kept in contact with a lot of them so that wasn’t the scary part.

“I was just like, ‘Am I able to do this? I don’t know, I don’t know if I’m going to remember my lines.’

“I was really nervous and I kept thinking, ‘I can’t imagine how nervous I must’ve been when I first started when I had just turned 19!

“I don’t know how I did it because I literally felt sick going in, I was like, ‘Oh my god this is terrifying.’

“But after the first couple of days, it was fine, it was completely fine.”

With Bethany’s return to the cobbles, will she rekindle her romance with former flame Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard)?

Coronation Street continues on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on ITV from 8pm.
