Joe Swash ‘returning to EastEnders’ 15 years after his character was axed
Joe Swash is reportedly returning for a one-off EastEnders special 15 years after his character Mickey Miller left the BBC One soap.
Joe, 41, is best known now for being married to TV favourite Stacey Solomon's husband, and most recently starred on I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! South Africa earlier this year.
But in an exciting development, the former actor, who recently spoke about fighting a "losing battle" over having more kids with Stacey, is now reported to be joining the team for a special spin-off project related to the highly-anticipated murder storyline.
Fans are already gearing up for sparks to fly as Walford's annual Christmas drama is set to kick off in a huge way this year.
Some of Albert Square's biggest characters are involved, including the likes of Kathy Beale's Gillian Taylforth and Sharon Mitchell icon Letitia Dean.
They were shown standing over the dead body of a mystery male character, along with four other female characters, in a flash-forward scene back in February.
Fans have been waiting to discover who dies and which lady is the murderer ever since, and now Joe, who was a fixture on the soap between 2003 and 2008, is set to be interviewing the cast.
Bosses have reportedly hired a fellow EastEnders legend in a bid to ramp up the excitement for the upcoming plot, as Joe gears up to grill the stars on what twists and turns will come.
The special is said to be airing on BBC3 in the coming months, according to The Sun.
"There is so much buzz around the show at the moment and with so many big stories bosses felt it was the perfect moment to give the audience an exclusive behind-the-scenes access with a one-off interview special that will be hosted by Joe Swash later in the year," a source told the pubication.
"Joe is such a huge part of the EastEnders family, so he was a natural fit to present as he has such a history with the show.
"The special is unlike one they’ve done before so viewers are going to love it," the source added.
OK! has contacted representatives at EastEnders for comment on the reports.
It comes as Sort Your Life Out star Stacey, 33, recently gave an inadvertent hint over what's to come for her husband during a "My Morning" reel on her Instagram page.
The mum-of-five, who got married to Joe in a stunning backyard wedding last summer and shares youngest three children Rex, four, Rose, two, and Belle, eight months, with him, was sharing her morning routine with fans.
Amid her personal care, daily chores and cuddles with the children, Stacey filmed herself printing out a series of mystery scripts for her hubby, joking that he couldn't do it himself.
The star strategically placed her hand over the pages so her followers wouldn't be able to glimpse any spoilers, but the speculation has already been growing, especially as Joe hasn't acted in anything for years.
