Whoopi Goldberg rants at ‘people who want to change history’ on The View
The View: Joy Behar says ‘the best sex is in Italy’
Whoopi Goldberg returned to The View on Monday after her third bout of Covid, and she did not hold back on the drama.
Last week, Goldberg explained her absence in a video on Instagram and dispelled some of the interesting conspiracy theories circulating.
She explained: “In spite of everything you’ve heard. I am not at Burning Man, I am not still in Italy, I am not trying to change the outcome of the election, I just have Covid.”
During her return episode, the co-hosts weighed in on 19-year-old tennis star Coco Gauff’s recent win at the U.S. Open on Saturday.
While most of the ladies at the table agreed it was a triumphant moment that was made better by Gauff’s immense professionalism and respectfulness to her predecessors, Goldberg didn’t miss out on the chance to rant.

She ranted at “people who want to change history.”
At the beginning of the conversation, Goldberg said that Gauff is the first American teen to win the US Open since Serena Williams did it in 1999.
Sunny Hostin loves that the professional tennis player “twirled on her haters” respectfully and handled a lot of criticism with grace.
In a clip of Gauff’s speech, she thanked the people who didn’t believe in her because they spurred her on and “poured gas” on her fire.
The co-hosts also love that Gauff was respectful to those who came before her.
When she got her $3 million check, she thanked Billy Jean King for having fought for equal pay.

There was also respect for Williams.
Gauff has said she’s felt honored for being mentioned along with the tennis icon and Sara Haines said that it’s a beautiful way of recognizing “those that paved the way.”
Meanwhile, Alyssa Farah Griffin loves how open the teen is about her Christian faith, quoting her with: “I don’t pray for results, I just ask for the strength to give it my all.”
However, Griffin doesn’t like how people keep saying she’s the next Serena Williams, adding: “She’s the next Coco Gauff. She’s fabulous on her own.”
That’s when Goldberg said what’s shocking to her is when she hears people say “we’re suprised.”
The comedian said: “Why are we surprised that the girl has been well-raised? Why are we surprised that she knows how to act in public? Is it us? Or is it her? Is it us who don’t know to act, who have forgotten how to be humble?”
Haines said not everyone knows how to act when they become a role model.
Goldberg added: “She is brilliant So, for all those other little girls out there, there’s a space for you. This is what I want to say to the people who keep wanting to move history and change history, you can’t stop the progress of history. History is doing what it’s doing and it’s invovling all of us.”
She continued: “And you can try to hide it but then you get lights like this young lady and you can’t do anything about it because she’s the greatest there is at the moment. That’s what I’m telling you.”
Goldberg definitely came ready to school viewers on her return.
