Married At First Sight stars ‘not in show for right reasons’ after rule break

Married at First Sight UK star Matt Jameson has questioned the true intentions of contestants taking part in the social experiment.

Matt appeared on the show in 2021 and was part of the first ever gay couple alongside Daniel McKee. The Leeds-born star hit it off with Daniel and the duo stayed together for two years before splitting in December 2022.

Matt opened up about the strict rules they faced after leaving the experiment, revealing he went as far as wearing a disguise to prevent people from seeing him and Daniel together. The Leeds native exclusively told Daily Star: "We signed NDA's. We had three months before the show aired and we had to keep a massive low profile.

"We were spending time in Leeds and Northern Ireland, but we weren't allowed to be out and about together. He continued: "We ran the Great North Run together that year in Newcastle, but the show was still on and no one was supposed to know we were together.

"I tried to make myself a little bit not like myself just because we weren't meant to be seen out together." The star added: "But all of them now just seem to not care and just be like, 'Oh yeah we're not together', and they're all being very vocal on their socials which I thought was against the rules."

There are certain rules contestants must follow as a means to prevent viewers from finding out the outcomes for the couple before the show airs. The couples are forbidden from posting their other halves on their social media and the cast aren't meant to follow each other online until the series concludes.

Since the show kicked off, there have been a number of rule breaks. Before his exit from the experiment aired, Nathaniel slammed producers and branded the show "a complete sham."

He also revealed he was no longer married to Ella Morgan, who later re-entered the experiment with JJ Slater. Elsewhere, before being kicked out of the experiment for his bust up with Jordan Gayle, Luke Worley dropped a huge hint that he was still with Jay Howard, responding: "Stop flirting I'm married" to a comment on Instagram.

Meanwhile, it's expected that Paul Liba and Tasha Jay are still together. The couple still follow each other on Instagram and regularly leave comments on each other's posts.

Matt questioned whether the continued rule breaks is a sign that contestants have taken part for the wrong reasons. He went on: "From the way that some of the contestants are now talking about the show and the way it all went down, they're past caring over whether they're going to get in trouble. They just want to tell their side of the story.

"But that maybe shows that they weren't in it for the right reasons because they're not sticking to the rules and just going for it and getting as much publicity around themselves as they can."
