The Chase’s Shaun Wallace ‘breaks golden rule’ in new role away from ITV

The Chase: Contestants win £20,000 in final chase

We’ve seen him take on plenty of opponents as The Dark Destroyer on The Chase, but now Shaun Wallace has revealed he’s “broken a golden rule” for his new role away from the show.

The 63-year-old is all set to star in adult pantomime Jack and His Giant Bigstalk where he will be starring as himself for one-night only.

The ITV star said he isn’t usually one for pantomimes, but is doing this one because of a great cause.

Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk, Shaun explained: “I don’t do pantomime, this is a strictly one-off.

“But when Simon (Gross) asked me and he told me the panto is a chance to raise money for The Terrence Higgins Trust, it’s such a worthwhile charity so I had to break my golden rule and play the small part in the panto.”

Speaking further about why he’s taking part, Shaun expressed: “I like to support charities, to try and use my fame and try to raise awareness for whatever charities really need it.

“The Terrence Higgins Trust has been going on for a long, long time but no charity can get enough publicity or awareness.”

The Terrence Higgins Trust is a charity that campaigns about and provides services relating to HIV and AIDS.

Producer and star of the pantomime, Simon Gross said: “This year we’ve invited Shaun to come and be our Chaser in our finale scene, he’s great.”

Shaun will be starring as himself for the special finale of the adult pantomime in December.

The barrister is one of the six Chasers that star on the ITV quiz show, with Shaun starring on the show since its inception in 2009.

Aside from Shaun, the other five chasers are Mark Labbett, Anne Hegerty, Paul Sinha, Jenny Ryan and newest star Darragh Ennis.

Contestants play against one of the professional quizzers who attempts to stop them from winning a cash prize.

Shaun will be appearing in Jack and His Giant Bigstalk on 12th December. The pantomime will be on at Prince Of Wales theatre from 8th to 22nd December.
