Sheridan Smith has given a rare insight into life as a single mother as she and her ex-partner, Jamie Horn, co-parent their three-year-old son, Billy. Sheridan and Jamie called time on their three-year romance in 2021, but have always remained committed to raising Billy together.

In a new interview, Sheridan, 42, shared an update on their dynamic, telling Radio Times for its Christmas issue: “We co-parent. It will always be amicable and Billy is loved by two families.”

She also reflected on welcoming her little boy during the Covid pandemic and how social distancing meant they could only rely on each other.

The Gavin and Stacey star explained: “[Billy] came three weeks early. I was breastfeeding, didn’t know what I was doing. No nurses could come, or grandparents, so it was just me and Jamie and Billy.

“In a way you get that special bond – there’s nobody saying, ‘I’ll take him, you have a rest’. I was confused at first, but it naturally comes, doesn’t it?”

Sheridan previously said that she and Jamie struggled with lack of sleep after welcoming Billy, despite their teamwork.

The BAFTA winner told the I Newspaper: “You are kind of walking around in a bit of a daze. If it hadn’t been a pandemic, we would have had more people to rely on so we could both go and get some rest; but thank goodness we had each other.

“We were walking around like zombies, and we didn’t really know what day it was. When there’s this bundle of joy, though, the good times make up for the bad.”

Sheridan confirmed their sad split in July 2021, telling The Sun: “It is with great sadness that we have decided to have some time apart. We both remain completely committed to raising our beautiful boy Billy together. We ask that you respect our privacy during this difficult time. Thank you.”
