Iain Armitage stars as the young science prodigy Sheldon Cooper in the hit continuation of CBS’s popular sitcom, The Big Bang Theory. Originally portrayed by Jim Parsons, Sheldon’s solo spin-off series has become another major hit for the network, though, sadly, the show’s current season will be keeping fans waiting for another two weeks.
Season five of Young Sheldon won’t be continuing until Thursday, April 14 in another major hiatus for the popular comedy series.
The Big Bang spin-off aired a new episode, A Solo Peanut, a Social Butterfly and the Truth, this Thursday.
Unfortunately, midseason breaks have become commonplace for the geeky college sitcom, as this episode was also on the back of a three-week delay.
Thankfully, the series will reward patient viewers with two new episodes airing on concurrent Thursdays from the 14th.
After a fortnight off-air, Young Sheldon will continue with episode 18, Babies, Lies and a Resplendent Cannoli.
The official synopsis confirms: “Sheldon copes with the death of a hero.
“Also, Missy wants to babysit, and Georgie struggles with his big secret.”
While Sheldon handles a sad loss, his twin sister Missy (played by Raegan Revord) tries to get a job.
Plus, his brother Georgie (Montana Jordan) is still reeling after discovering his new girlfriend Mandy (Emily Osment) is pregnant.
Both 17-year-old Georgie and 29-year-old Mandy had lied about their age, so their tricky situation could land them both in big trouble if the Coopers uncover the truth.
Fans were expecting big things from the show’s 100th episode, and it certainly didn’t disappoint.
Along with a major twist for Sheldon’s brother, his crush Paige Swanson (McKenna Grace) pays a visit to East Texas Tech and reconciled with her mother.
The show regularly pulls in some six to seven million viewers per episode, who will all be eager to tune in for more laughs and a dose of drama.

Young Sheldon’s next episode is building up to be one of the show’s heaviest yet as Georgie deals with the possibility of becoming a father.
However, the main source of speculation is which of Sheldon’s heroes will be passing away.
Sheldon’s older counterpart has already had to deal with a profound loss in the form of Professor Proton (Bob Newhart).
Although his childhood loss could be any number of celebrity role models, this death could hit much closer to home.
Iain’s co-star Reagan seemed to confirm Sheldon’s dad, George Sr (Lance Barber), will indeed die at some point in the series to match up with Big Bang’s continuity.
In response to a fan tweeting about George’s death, she replied: “I’m already destroyed and it hasn’t even happened yet.”
Could Sheldon’s father pass away in another hard-hitting episode of Young Sheldon? With a two-week hiatus underway, there’s plenty of time for rumours to start flying ahead of the show’s return.
Young Sheldon season 5 continues Thursdays on CBS in the USA. A UK release date is yet to be announced.
