Will ‘Trinkets’ Be Getting a Second Season?

Quick question: Is Trinkets on Netflix your new favorite show yet? I mean, it should be. This story of three high school kleptomaniacs is kind of like a less flashy version of The Bling Ring (stealing from regular-shmegular shops in Portland is way more low-key than robbing designer stuff from a celebrity’s mansion). It’s a perfect premise for a TV show, right? Plus, the adorable friendships will make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

Basically, Trinkets is a really nice break from all the murder-y things you normally watch. Here’s everything you need to know about the future of this Netflix Original.

Will there be a season 2 of Trinkets?

Trinkets literally just dropped on Netflix, so if you’re waiting for a season 2 announcement…you’re going to have to be super patient. Nothing is confirmed yet, but there is a small inkling of hope.

Trinkets is actually based on a 2014 young adult novel of the same name. The author, Kirsten Smith, recently spoke to Hollywood Life and said she’d be so down for another season. Season 1 doesn’t actually cover everything that happens in the book, so there’s definitely more of this story for Netflix to create.

Here is a rainbow of photos capturing a rainbow of Trinkets emotions on our premiere night: silly, cuddly, celebratory, smitten, but mostly just really grateful to have collaborated with such spectacularly talented people 🌈❤️

A post shared by Kirsten “Kiwi” Smith (@kiwilovesyou) on

“There are a few things left in the book, a few different paths that we took in the show that left some characters behind from the book that we might pull in to future stories if we have the opportunity to do so,” says Smith. “We have a lot of stories to tell, so if we’re fortunate enough to get [a season 2], we’re armed and ready to go. I can live with these characters for a long time.”

So…hi, Netflix! Give the people what they want! (Unlike cute sunnies, a season of television isn’t really something you can sneakily snatch for yourself.)

Who would be in the season 2 cast?

Again, a second season hasn’t even been confirmed, but that doesn’t mean Smith doesn’t have a few ideas brewing already. Trinkets is actually her first shot at a television show, but she’s a screenwriter you probably didn’t know you were already obsessed with. Her credits include all your faves, like 10 Things I Hate About You, Legally Blonde, and She’s the Man. Casual!

Anyway, Smith told Hollywood Life that if she could pick an actor from one of her past projects to be in a second season of Trinkets, it’d be Andrew Keegan from 10 Things I Hate About You. I approve!

This post will be updated as more information about Trinkets season 2 is announced.
