BBC Breakfast presenter Sally Bundock was flooded with well-wishes after she shared a series of photos from her hospital bed on April 4, 2022.

Who is Sally Bundock?

Sally Bundock is a 50-year-old British financial journalist and presenter.

Born in 1972, she was educated at Robert Smyth School and completed an undergraduate degree in public administration at the Polytechnic of Wales.

She then moved to London and gained a postgraduate diploma in journalism at City University London.

In 2002, she joined the business team at the BBC and has been presenting the early morning edition of World Business Report on BBC One, BBC News Channel and BBC World News for the past 20 years.

Why is she not on BBC Breakfast at the moment?

Bundock is not on BBC Breakfast at the moment due to recovering from leg surgery.

On April 4, 2022, she shared a photo to her Twitter followers of herself who appears to be in a hospital room wearing a mask, with the caption: Here we go – in the hands of a great team at the NHS.

They need to fix my ACL, MCL and meniscus. Apparently, my knee cap is looking ropey so they may boost that as well."

The journalist gave a second update with a photo of herself in a hospital gown with her leg marked up for surgery with the caption: "Thanks for all the best wishes…. Soon I'll be in deep sleep."

On May 14, the BBC star posted a picture of herself outside the hospital with a cast on her leg and on crutches with the caption: "Recovery: week 2 done. 4 more weeks of leg brace on at all times, even in bed."

It is currently unknown when Bundock will return to work, but judging by her Tweets, it appears it won't be for at least another four weeks.

What is Sally known for?

Bundock began covering business news in the mid-1990s when she worked for Bloomberg.

She has covered many momentous events including World Economic Forums, G7 conferences and historic EU Summits.

In 2007, she became a BBC news business news anchor for the breakfast news slot and often presented with Jonathan Charles or David Jessel.

She has also presented World Business Report which launched in 2001, World News Today: Business Edition, which later became Business Live in 2015, and Worklife in 2019, of which she is still the lead presenter.

Since 2017, she has been the solo anchor of the breakfast slot aimed at European, Middle Eastern and African audiences.

Is she married and does she have children?

The journalist married Paul Bundock in 1999 in Market Harborough, Leicestershire.

Sadly, he passed away in June 2017 from a rare form of cancer called carcinoid tumours.

On October 13, 2020, Bundock replied to a tweet asking if she was married or engaged to which she replied: "engaged."

Bundock has three sons and lives in Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire.
