The long-running Vikings star featured as the terrifying warrior Ivar the Boneless in three seasons of the popular historical drama. After the show came to a brutal end on Amazon Prime Video last year, Andersen has revealed his collaboration with the best-selling Danish musician in his new post on Instagram.

Alex Høgh Andersen makes a prominent appearance in the music video for Mads Langer’s brand new single, ‘Lightning’.

The former Vikings star features as a hospital patient who experiences delirious visions of couples experiencing intimate moments together.

Langer’s new single has received a wave of support from the LGBTQ+ community as a number of same-sex couples feature in the video.

“In a day & age when everything is so bad this video is lovely,” commented one of Andersen’s fans when the video dropped on Sunday.

“Thank you Alex for being the positive light that you are!”

Another fan said: “A lovely work by Alex and Mads.

“Congratulations on celebrating love and bringing this message of tolerance and empathy to so many people.”

Andersen had previously teased his involvement in the new project in an Instagram post the day before.

He wrote: “The guy I’m smooching here is my handsome friend @madslanger. He’s as great a kisser as he’s a musician, believe it or not.”

In addition to his television roles, Andersen is also an accomplished photographer.

His online portfolio features several portraits of Mads Langers in collaboration with the singer-songwriter’s 2019 single, ‘Eyes Closed’.

The actor-musician duo were thrilled to work together on Langer’s latest record.

Andersen continued: “I’ve had the pleasure to star in his new music video for his new release ‘Lightning’ which is a tribute to the kiss, to diversity, inclusivity and free love.

“It’s freaking sexy and I’m proud to be a small part of it.”

The new video was directed by Danish filmmaker Tine Reingaard and shot by cinematographer Peter Riis.

Langer also paid tribute to tolerance and inclusivity when he released the video on his own Instagram page.

He said: “Mostly I’m proud of those of my friends and those from my family and everyone who have the courage to stand up for who they are and for who they love even though they don’t fit into the heteronormative box.”

“A box that some people mistakingly [sic] think is the only box that true love can fit into.

“This is most of all a tribute to those who live in places and communities where they are not allowed to be who they are. Love is love.”

The artist has yet to confirm whether Lightning will be included in an upcoming album.

His last studio album, Reckless Twin, was released in 2016, and he will be performing live in Denmark later this month.

Vikings seasons 1-6 are available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.
