The Voice’s Emma Willis admits 15-hour filming days are a ‘nightmare’
Emma Willis has opened up about nearly 10 years of filming The Voice UK, admitting that long days of shooting often leave her with an aching back.
The presenter, 47, has hosted the ITV singing competition since 2014 and returns to the show for its twelfth series alongside coaches will.i.am, Anne-Marie, Tom Jones and Olly Murs.
Speaking to OK! about filming The Voice UK, Emma said that the team works 15-hour days when filming the auditions.
“It’s a nightmare on your back and feet because it is five-hour blocks of standing up consistently. It’s like being at a gig without a glass of wine!”
Despite feeling sore after a day of shooting, Emma still loves hosting the talent show.
“I like seeing people do well and watching talented people – and sitting down on a Saturday night with my family to watch a show we can get involved with from our sofas and scream at those coaches.”
The upcoming series sees Emma take on a "slightly extended role" as she gets to sit in a big red chair that is often reserved for the coaches.
"It was really nerve-wracking,” she said, adding that hitting the red button has made her want to become a permanent coach.
"I might just go rogue. I think I need an Ant and Dec -style Golden Buzzer from Britain’s Got Talent. But I’ve been asking for that for years. Let’s have five coaches, give me a button!”
The TV presenter is married to Busted star Matt Willis, with the pair having tied the knot in 2008 and sharing three kids together.
Earlier this year, Emma spoke out about her husband's history with addiction – and how she worries the most about him relapsing when he goes on tour.
"Matt’s always had issues, but they seem to really kick in when he's on tour.” she said in BBC documentary Matt Willis: Fighting Addiction.
“I know he doesn’t want to be that person but is his brain going to trick him and go, ‘Just one more time..’? That’s the worry.”
"I try not to think too much about the past but then I have to remind myself that he’s relapsed massively when I thought he was all good."
The Voice UK airs on Saturday 4th November at 8:25pm on ITV1
