The Good Doctor fans in tears at Shaun and Glassman feud
New promo for The Good Doctor’s season 6 finale
The sixth season of The Good Doctor is racing towards a gripping conclusion – that could include the final scenes of a beloved character.
On this season of ABC’s hit medical drama, Dr Aaron Glassman (played by Richard Schiff) has been struggling to recover from a stroke that has affected the functions of his brain.
Dr Shaun Murphy (Freddie Highmore) is eager for him to step back from his role at St Bonaventure Hospital, but the decision didn’t come until seven hours into a delicate surgery.
During this Monday’s episode, A Beautiful Day, Glassman hesitated and failed to recite the next step of the procedure, forcing him to put down the knife and walk out of the operating room, humiliated.
While the senior surgeon admitted he made the right decision, he later confronted Shaun for calling out his health issues so publicly.
Their feud has come at just the wrong time, as Shaun is also expecting his first son with Lea Dilallo (Paige Spara) to arrive any moment now.
Fans were left heartbroken by this turn of events, and took to Twitter distraught in preparation of Glassman’s potential exit next week.
@photoswiftie97 said: “Seeing Glassman and Shaun fighting is making my heart break.”
Shad Morales posted fearful emojis and wrote: “Things are going to get really ugly between Shaun and Glassman.”

@latelydoie tweeted: “Shaun was right to be concerned and ultimately Glassman did the right thing to step back but Shaun could’ve approached this differently… I get that that’s how he is but [crying emoji].”
@auck3land also posted a crying emoji and said: “It’s sad Glassman may not be there for the baby.”
And @_Rossaholic said: “I’m sad for Dr Glassman. I know he can’t help it.”
On Reddit, u/Annber03 commented: “Oof, the tension between Glassman and Shaun this episode.
“Glassman’s line about not realizing that the best thing for his patients would be for him to put down his knife was heartbreaking.”
With the season finale arriving in just a week’s time, millions of fans are on the edge of their seats to find out what Glassman’s ultimate fate will be.
The series has been renewed for a seventh season, but it’s not yet known if Schiff will remain part of the main cast.
In the meantime, the synopsis for next week’s climactic hour, Love’s Labor, still doesn’t bode well for Glassman and Shaun’s friendship.
It reads: “Shaun and Lea head to the delivery room and everyone from the hospital is there, except for one very important person.
“A tragic accident involving Dr’s Danny Perez (Brandon Larracuente) and Jared Kalu (Chuku Modu) pulls everyone away, including Dr Murphy.”
The Good Doctor season 6 concludes Monday, May 1 on ABC in the US.
