The Chase viewers distracted as they spot 'iconic' way contestants are connected

THE Chase viewers were left doing a double take after spotting a striking similarity between the contestants on Monday's episode.

ITV host Bradley Walsh introduced new players Marvin, Whitney, Beverly and Rhidian as they went head-to-head with the Chaser.

As the four hopefuls faced quizmaster Shaun Wallace, viewers couldn't help but notice an iconic connection between the line-up.

Fans of the show were quick to point out the pop star connection with the contestants names.

Viewers joked that their first name reminded them of music icons Marvin Gaye, Whitney Houston, Beverly Knight and Rhydian Roberts.

One wrote: "All nearly musical icons, Marvin Gaye, Whitney Houston, Beverly Knight, Rhydian #TheChase.”

A second posted: “When I saw the names of the contestants in the Radio Times (gotta be done its Christmas!) I assumed this was a celebrity edition!!”

Another joked: "The naming crew are at it again …"

One fan agreed: “Pop star team today”.

Another added: "Musical line up for tonight's show #TheChase.”

But this isn't the first time that ITV bosses have had some fun grouping contestants together.

Last month, The Chase viewers got another treat from bosses as the four players all had names relating to music icons.

Waiting to face one of the formidable chasers were Prince, Tina, Elvis and Adele.

Even host Bradley Walsh couldn't help but quip: "Prince and the King in one show, can't believe it."

While those watching at home rushed onto Twitter to point out the talent on the programme.

One wrote: "The line-up for tonight's episode is a gig I'd definitely be up for seeing. Adele, Elvis, Tina & Prince #TheChase".

Another added: "Surely the producers on @thechaseabc planned this.
Prince, Tina, Elvis and Adele… it's like a weird tribute band #TheChase".

Last month, viewers were also quick to spot contestants Lily, Alan, Craig and David.

Fans commented on the link to hit singers Lily Allen and Craig David.
