Strictly Come Dancing star Greg Wise has revealed he gave his rivals a sweet gift ahead of the series launch.

The 55-year-old actor has been partnered with Karen Hauer for the latest edition of the BBC competition.

Speaking to host Claudia Winkleman about their partnership, Greg let slip that he handed out presents to his fellow co-stars before the show.

The Crown actor said: "Each one had some homemade jam" before jokingly adding: "Poisoned of course."

Greg and Karen sparked speculation that they were paired up as ballroom partners after they were spotted attending dance rehearsals together in the week.

The dynamic duo headed into the venue just two minutes apart.

Greg, who is married to actress Emma Thompson, was spotted rolling a quick cigarette before heading into his rehearsal session.

He wore sweats and carried a large tan holdall bag, worn across his torso.

Karen donned an all-black ensemble, with a white sweater tied around her waist.

Fans rushed to their keyboard to discuss Greg's appearance on the BBC dancing show.

Taking to Twitter, one fan penned: "I can’t quite articulate how much I love Greg Wise. Actual Willoughby is on this year’s #Strictly"

Another added: "Greg Wise for the win."

A third person posted: "Only here for Greg Wise and Karen."

While a fourth social media said: "Greg Wise is a beautiful man. That is all."

Greg was confirmed for Strictly Come Dancing last month.

He has joined the show in honour of his late sister Clare who died from cancer aged 51 in 2016.

The star moved into his elder sister's home and became her full-time carer before her tragic death.

Speaking about joining the show, the producer said: "My beautiful sister was a huge disco queen.

"She left our world almost exactly five years ago in a glitter ball coffin. I will channel her, as her bro can’t dance – but I’m thrilled to be dipping my toes, knees, hips and arms into this wonderful world, and hope to make her proud."

Clare was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2013 and started a witty and heartfelt blog detailing her battle with the disease.
