Strictly’s Adam Peaty admits he's struggling and 'can't walk' after 5.30am starts to train with Katya Jones

OLYMPIC swimmer Adam Peaty said he woke up in pain last night and couldn't walk after training for Strictly.

The gold medallist today revealed he was struggling to walk after gruelling 5.30am training sessions with Strictly pro dancer Katya Jones.

The sports star took to the Strictly floor for the first time on Saturday night, dancing a cha cha to track Beggin'.

The pair are planning to tackle the quickstep in week two with 26-year-old Adam complaining the steps were ravaging his legs.

He said the pain woke him in the middle of the night.

He said: "So had a 5.30am start this morning. But my feet.

"I woke up at 4am because I can't walk, I can't walk. I literally couldn't walk to the toilet.

"But then I woke up at 5.30am and it was a little bit better and now I'm dancing. Quickstep. Gotta find a way through the pain."

Adam was left with a bloodied nose after a particularly tough session with Katya last week.

But their training paid off on Saturday night, and the judges weren't shy in their praise of the dad-of-one.

Craig Revel-Horwood said he was "glued to every inch of movement" from Adam who left some hot under the collar as he performed with his shirt unbuttoned and wiggled his hips.

However, things almost went a little awry with Katya slipping as she performed a 'pot-stirrer' with his leg in the air while she twirled under him.

"I fell in love with some of those movements. You have such a refreshing energy and charisma. Oh my word, I can't wait for the next sixteen weeks!" praised Motsi.

"She slipped a little bit but you know what? You saved it," said head judge Shirley. "True professionalism."

The pair ended joint second on the leaderboard with a score of 30 out of 40 for their first dance.

They were only beaten by AJ Odudu and Kai Widdrington, who smashed their way to the top spot with 34 points thanks to their stunning jive.
