Spoilers: Corrie confirms new romance for Daniel but will it end in disaster?

Coronation Street is set to air a new chapter for Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) as he finds himself back on the dating scene – and finding himself attracted to newcomer Nicky, who suggests that they make a night of it. But is he truly reading to romance again after losing Sinead and the mess of his relationship with Bethany?

Daniel and Bertie went away to a retreat in Scotland after the furore of Daniel mistaking Bethany for his late wife and his family hoped he had turned a corner when he returned.

To an extent he has, but grief over a love so strong doesn’t just go away so easily and Daniel continues to feel isolated and lonely.

Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson) makes an effort to reach out to him by suggesting a night in with beers and Daniel even goes to the length of making cupcakes as he is so excited to have some company.

So when Adam bails on their plans last minute, he is gutted and spends the night talking to a photograph of Sinead as well, feeling like his life is empty and he will constantly feel this pain.

Adam tries to make it up to Daniel by inviting him to a swanky legal wine reception but while it starts off awkwardly for an out of place Daniel, things look up when a woman named Nicky pays an interest in him.

The pair end up having a laugh and a drink together and, as they bond, Adam is impressed when they head off to carry the night on elsewhere.

But is Daniel setting himself up for a fall? Still so fragile, will the night end up being what he has hoped for – or as things get more intense will it all end in disaster?
