Spoilers: Billy in Corrie betrays Paul – by accusing him of murdering abuser Kel

It’s safe to say Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank) in Coronation Street has been thrown by the recent letter from ex-boyfriend Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce). Aside from the letter, Billy has also been worrying about the discovery of a dead body in the canal – who he worries may be Todd.

Fortunately for Billy, he discovers the body isn’t Todd’s, but that of Paul Foreman’s (Peter Ash) abusive stepfather Kel Hinchley (Joe Alessi).

However, as Billy wonders about how Kel died, he also betrays Paul in the process – by accusing him of murdering his abuser.

Billy tells Paul that the body discovered in the canal might be that of Kel’s, and Paul is left distraught. He heads out, leaving Billy worried.

A police officer calls round and, having confirmed that the body was definitely Kel, asks Paul a series of questions. When Paul asserts that he’s not surprised Kel was murdered, the officer points out that he never said he was.

When Billy tentatively asks Paul what makes him think that Kel has been murdered — as well as asking him if he had anything to do with it — he becomes angry and defensive.

Paul will no doubt be hurt by Billy’s accusation, but could he really have had something to do with Kel’s death? And is keeping it a secret from everyone?

Furthermore, how will Paul cope now his abuser is dead?
