'RHOC' Reunion Feud: Kelly Dodd Explains 'Anti-American' Comment About Andy Cohen
Kelly Dodd is probably the most controversial housewife out of all the franchises. The Real Housewives of Orange County star has been in the middle of polemic due to several incidents on social media. She has played down the severity of COVID-19 and was accused of mocking the Black Lives Matter movement. Discussing those issues at the RHOC Season 15 reunion, Dodd got into a feud with host Andy Cohen and she’s now clearing up her comments.
Why did Kelly Dodd say Andy Cohen is ‘anti-American?’
The first part of the RHOC Season 15 reunion was explosive. Cohen serves as moderator for the special and is usually only asking questions. However, Dodd got fired up and even attacked her boss, as Cohen also serves as executive producer of the reality series.
Bravo boss Cohen brought up the subject that Dodd had been in the middle of controversy for things she has said on social media, not for her antics on the show. The Watch What Happens Live host mentioned that he gets a lot of negative comments on social media about Dodd.
“I mean, the amount of messages that I get that you’re uneducated, you’re putting out misinformation, you’re behaving like a moron,” Cohen said.
However, what no one saw coming was Dodd firing back at Cohen and adding, “I get them too, saying that you’re anti-American. That you put your political beliefs out there, that they don’t want to watch a political show.”
“I’m anti-American because I don’t like Donald Trump?” a visibly shocked Cohen asked.
“Yeah,” Dodd confirmed.
Kelly Dodd cleans up her mess
After the moment went viral on social media, Dodd has now broken her silence on the incident. The Positive Energy drink promoter said that she didn’t mean to get political but instead was trying to make a point.
“I’m a Libertarian, I didn’t vote for Trump. I’m not a Trumper at all,” Dodd told E! Online. “But I am a Libertarian so I do have conservative views on things but I am socially liberal. I believe in gay rights, I believe in abortion.”
Dodd added that everyone on social media gets negative comments about them and they’re not necessarily true.
“My point with Andy was that you can always find negative comments on social media,” Dodd explained. “Some people with zero posts and zero followers comment, but the vast majority of comments about me are positive. My point wasn’t always to find negative comments about me, but I was saying you can find negative comments about him, you can find negative comments about you.”
Dodd said she doesn’t regret bringing up the comment about people saying Cohen is “anti-American” as she was citing an example of what social media users say online.
“It’s not that he’s anti-American, I don’t think he’s anti-American at all. But I get people that DM me that say that, doesn’t mean it’s true. That’s what I meant,” Dodd added.
As of right now, it’s not known if Dodd will be returning for another season of RHOC but pickup contracts should be heading to the stars soon.
The Real Housewives of Orange County airs next Wednesday at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo.
