The following article contains spoilers form Power Book II: season 2. The finale episode of Power Book II: Ghost has just aired in the US, and fans are sad to see the second season end. The spin-off show has followed in the success of Power and despite season two just ending, fans won’t have to wait too long as it has been renewed for season three.

The action-packed season two finale helped wrap up many storylines but left viewers wanting more.

Ezekiel ‘Zeke’ Cross (played by Daniel Bellomy) has had a dramatic season, and just when he thought he was about to escape the craziness, he was sucked back in and killed.

The young actor has spoken out about the “sacrifice” his character had to make as he tried to start a new life away from his drug-dealing family.

“You know, we wanted Zeke to go on and to leave his family, be an NBA star, and just soar. But, in the end, he ran back to his mom and it cost him his life,” Daniel commented.

“Zeke was just so innocent. I’m so sad that Zeke had to go because I love him so much, but as much as one wants to be gangsta on Power, he was just so innocent and so good.”

Having recently learned that his aunt Monet (Mary J. Blige) was his mother, Zeke was set to leave the drama behind as he walked up the stairs to a private jet, ready to fly away.

Much to the fan’s shock, he never made it to his final destination after Lorenzo Tejada (Berto Colon) thought he was doing the right thing and took a shot at who he thought was season two villain Dante ‘Mecca’ Spears (Daniel Sunjata).

Zeke was on the receiving end of the killer blow and was murdered in cold blood.

Describing what it was like to film the series, the actor continued to Deadline: “This season was about sacrifice, and it comes as no surprise to Ezekiel Cross that it came down to this.

“I look at the sacrifice that was made in terms of Ezekiel Cross and how Monet was holding onto him so tightly, almost to his destruction.”

The poor boy also recently learnt Mecca was his father as well.

He added: “As the story moves ahead the question is: Will the sacrifice of his life be in vain? How many more of our people have to be slain because of meaningless stubbornness and greed? Will Monet ever change? Will she tell the truth? Will things change or will they just get exceedingly more wicked?”

A blueprint for season three has now been set, with Lorenza sure to panic about whether anyone else will find out that he killed Zeke.

Zeke had a lot of potential with his own “hopes and his dreams” but the reality of Monet and Mecca being his parents posed all too restricting.

The 27-year-old actor carried on: “At that moment, death was his salvation. This is a world where innocents cannot survive. He was enslaved to his family in terms of, if you remember in season one, we talk about how Monet’s word is law.

“Sometimes people really are just that good and just want to lift people up. He paid for that.”

Mecca received what he deserved with Monet pulling the trigger and dealing the killing blow.

On returning to the show, the TV star was adamant that he did not want to be brought back for the next instalment.

“I don’t want [Zeke] to come back as a ghost because I feel like then Monet still gets to have him, and she doesn’t deserve that,” he ended with.

Disgruntled fan @keese215 tweeted about Zeke’s death: “Damn power not even going hit the same wit out Zeke really was the bid of the show.” (sic)

“Power Not goin be the same without Zeke Loudly crying face,” @Wavyy_ added. (sic)
