Naked Attraction’s make-up team have to blur out ingrown hairs and other hilarious behind the scenes facts
It’s the show that’s guaranteed to have the nations’ tongues wagging whenever it airs on our screens. So TV fans will be thrilled that Channel 4’s Naked Attraction is back on the box.
The new series, hosted by Anna Richardson, airs on Wednesdays, and promises to provide plenty more memorable moments that have become synonymous with the show – from unique characters to show firsts.
We caught up with presenter Anna to find out why it’s her all time favourite gig, the contestant that left her utterly speechless and the hilarious behind the scenes secrets that they hide from viewers.
Hi Anna. What’s something that viewers wouldn’t know about the set of Naked Attraction?
We constantly bicker over the temperature controls in the studio. The boys always want it to be warm so their willies look bigger, and the girls always want it to be freezing so their nipples go hard because they want to be seen in the best light. Throughout the day the remote control is being turned up and down.
Can you share any other behind the scenes secrets?
The make-up girls have the hardest job because they literally have to have special brushes to paint in the in-grown hairs. Everyone’s obsessed with removing their pubic hair, and, inevitably if they’ve done it the night before, there’s a shaving rash or in-grown hairs, so the makeup artists have to get up close and personal to people’s genitals and they’ve got to have their special make up brushes to blur out these hairs. A big salute to the make-up team!
Do you have any pre-show rituals before you head out to host?
I don’t really have any rituals, but I like to hang out in my dressing room with a couple of my team. We hang out, gossip, watch Judge Rinder and eat cheese and biscuits before going on.
Over the years, what’s been your most memorable moment?
I really mean it when I say this is my favourite show I’ve ever worked on. I really do look forward to doing it every year. It makes me laugh, and it’s also a joyous exploration of the human body, so I’m grateful to be doing it.
What are your standout memories from the show?
I’ve only ever been left speechless once, and that was by Judith, our church going cancer survivor who played the Lord is my Shepherd on her Casio organ whilst trying to get the bodies to dance along to it. As a daughter of a vicar that really threw me, I’ve never seen that before. She caused an internet breakdown when she got all the bods to try her Victoria sponge, and she was featured on Gogglebox recently as well.
We’ve also had some lovely moments over the years, including our Naked Attraction success stories. We’ve got Gemma and James from series two who found love and who are still very much together, four and a half years later.

What’s the funniest reaction you’ve had to the show when you’ve been out and about?
It’s the one show that I get most stopped about. I was recently in the middle of the Derbyshire hills with my brother and my dog in my wellies and I stopped for a cup of tea. The woman behind the counter said, “Ooh, you’re that woman from Naked Attraction!” And then she got some Derbyshire oatcakes and said, “Just imagine if I was on, I could have an oatcake there and an oatcake there and one on my fanny.” I’m literally in the middle of nowhere and a woman is holding oatcakes to her breasts and is saying the word fanny!
