Meghan Markle told to ‘shut up’ by Phillip Schofield in This Morning outburst
Phillip Schofield did not mince his words on This Morning this week after he gave his views on Meghan Markle and Prince Harry after their fiery Oprah interview.
In response to the US breakfast show host Gayle King’s recent revelations regarding the Royal Family’s conversation with Meghan and Harry being "unproductive", Philip Schofield said it was time for Meghan to “shut up.”
Phillip and Holly Willoughby were chatting to Gyles Brandreth and Beverly Turner on the show about the headlines regarding Harry and Meghan’s conversations with the Royal Family – which were shared by TV host Gayle.
Gayle spoke to her viewers on CBS and said: "I’m not trying to break news, but I did actually call them to see how they were feeling and it’s true Harry has talked to his brother and he has talked to his father too.
"The word I was given was that those conversations were not productive but they are glad that they have at least started a conversation.”
She continued on to say: "And I think what is still upsetting to them is that the palace keeps saying they want to work it out privately, but yet they believe these false stories are coming out that are very disparaging against Meghan still – no one in the royal family has talked to Meghan yet."
After they showed the clip, Philip was very honest with how he felt about the situation and whether it was right that the royal couple were open and honest about their private affairs.
Philip said: "The thing is there’s been an enormous amount of sympathy over the race issue, the mental health issue, but looking at the polls that are being done at the moment, that sympathy seems to be ebbing away quite quickly.
"There is this feeling that you’ve made your point, essentially shut up now and get on with your quiet American life."
Philip also mentioned that he thinks it’s about time Meghan stopped speaking about her treatment as a royal.
He added: "You stabbed a knife to the heart of the monarch of which there were some things they felt needed to be highlighted fair enough but stop now.”
Gyles then went on to discuss Gayle King’s stance on the matter and said he feels "Miss King is clearly Meghan’s new megaphone."
He said: "You can’t risk talking privately because Meghan wants to spread the world.

"This will go on and on and on until we are little old people even you Phil, even you Holly. You’ll be elderly folk and this drama will still be playing out before our eyes."
Philip added: "Bev, there you go. Either that is the most indiscrete friend on the planet or she has been told by them that she can go on American TV and brief against the Royal Family and the British press once more."
Bev replied: "I suspect it’s the latter Phil. Meghan Markle has a record of doing this of talking to friends. We saw in the interview one of her big drivers, ‘I want everyone to say nice things about me all the time.’
"That was her main complaint to the Royal Family when she talks about, ‘I want you to protect me.’
Viewers were fairly indifferent to the brash comments made by Schofield and took to social media to air their views.
One fan wrote: “I know right? I don’t know who these men from @thismorning thinks they are telling Meghan to shut up, stay in America or call her uppity.”
Whilst another said: "Yes Phil spot on about Meghan #ThisMorning."
