Amenadiel (played by DB Woodside) joined forces with his brother Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis) to take down their scheming sibling Michael in the thrilling finale of Lucifer season five, part one. Unfortunately, some key details from the latest instalment of the popular Netflix series appear to be missing.
‘Lucifans’ think they’ve spotted some major continuity mistakes with Amenadiel’s strength in the latest season of Lucifer.
After nearly a year of waiting, the second eight episodes of season five finally arrived on Netflix at the end of May.
Before the series continued, Amenadiel and Lucifer faced off with Michael in the last episode of season 5a, ‘Spoiler Alert’.
Their vicious skirmish in the LAPD precinct took a dark turn when Lucifer’s best friend Mazikeen (Lesley-Ann Brandt) temporarily joined forces with Michael.
However, the series was cut short just as the squabbling siblings’ father, God (Dennis Haysbert), finally came to Earth to put an end to their disagreement.
Fans were then kept waiting for several months after witnessing one of the biggest cliffhangers in the show’s history.
Despite the stunning revelations and gripping action set pieces, one fan took issue with how Amenadiel’s powers were portrayed in the final battle.
Ostensibly the strongest of God’s celestial children, Lucifer’s powerful brother seems to have been considerably weakened for the final scene of part one.
They took to Reddit to pose the question to fellow fans in hope of finding an explanation.
User Key_Information5562 asked: “In Lucifer isn’t Amenadiel the most powerful angel in the show?
“If he is then why in season 5 was he nowhere near as strong as he was said to be when he fought against Micheal and Maze with Lucifer?”
Amenadiel was just about able to go toe-to-toe with Michael, though this fan suggested he should have easily taken him out.

Meanwhile, Lucifer’s strength was also perceived as somewhat inconsistent, as he struggled to overcome Mazikeen.
Down in the comments, some viewers suggested Amenadiel’s dampened powers could have something to do with his recent self-actualising.
One replied: “Amenediel’s strength seemed to depend a lot on how he felt about himself.
“Even at full strength I don’t know that he’d have an easy time with Luci or Michael, especially when he’d have to worry about protecting human lives during the fight.”
At the time, Amenadiel was deeply concerned with the mortality of his new baby, Charlie.
With his mind on other things, the angelic warrior may have been too distracted to muster up his full strength.
Plus, as another fan offered: “It depends on what the writers want to happen.”
Luci and his cohort’s inconsistent power set may prove distracting on a rewatch, but the series was still able to keep viewers enthralled with its riveting midseason finale.
Lucifer Season 5, Part 2 is available to stream on Netflix.
