Detective Dan Espinoza (played by Kevin Alejandro), the long-standing rival of Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis) finally discovered the devil’s true identity in the latest instalment of the Netflix phenomenon. However, Detective ‘Douche’ still has some uncomfortable truths yet to learn, which could send him down an even darker path when the series returns.
‘Lucifans’ are suggesting Lucifer’s office rival Dan Espinoza could turn on his brother Amenadiel (D.B. Woodside) in the next eight episodes of season five.
After being tricked by the devious schemes of Lucifer’s twin brother, Michael, Dan finally caught a glimpse of the devil’s true form and turned against him.
Thankfully, Chloe Decker (Lauren German) managed to convince Dan Lucifer was on the side of good and his anger subsided – for now.
Back in season two, fans will remember Dan unknowingly dated Goddess, who had taken human form by possessing the body of Charlotte Richards (Tricia Helfer).
Dan still blames himself for her death when the resurrected Charlotte, now no longer possessed by Goddess, was killed by Marcus Pierce/Cain (Tom Welling) in season three.
Still struggling to cope with his grief, a new fan theory has speculated Dan could have an even more violent reaction when he finally learns the truth about Charlotte.
One fan took to Reddit to propose Dan will turn on Amenadiel in the second half of season five when he uncovers his connection to his late girlfriend.
User EMPIREVSREBLES posted: “So since Dan now knows Lucifer is the actual devil, he obviously won’t take long until he links the two brothers and realises Amen is also divine.”
“We also know how Dan had a connection with Charlotte and that Amenadiel was with her as she dies and he took her to heaven.”
Although some viewers have proposed a series of hilarious reactions will ensue when Dan realises he’s slept with a celestial being, others have maintained the revelation will be slightly more difficult to process.
If Dan interrogates Amenadiel about Charlotte’s final moments, he may ask the angel why they couldn’t do more to save her.
The fan continued: “My question is, how do you think that type of conversation will go?”

“I believe that Dan will go crazier after finding out about the divine like how Chloe did, and just keep digging into his rabbit hole, and then thinks of Charlotte.
“Amenadiel goes to Dan wherever they would be and he talks about how he was with Charlotte.”
As the backend of season five, part one demonstrated, Dan is still harbouring some anger towards Lucifer for keeping the truth from him all this time.
He may have a similar reaction when Lucifer clues him in on Amenadiel’s celestial status, though he now knows mere bullets won’t work on his immortal companions.
Plus, Amenadiel is arguably even stronger than Lucifer, so fans shouldn’t expect a potential scuffle between the two to last very long.
Even so, the troubled detective may have some harsh words for Lucifer’s brother, and even their demonic friend Mazikeen (Lesley-Ann Brandt), when he realises how much he’s been misled about his life with Charlotte.
As the series gears up for its sixth and final season, Dan will undoubtedly learn more about the truth of the universe, especially now God (Dennis Haysbert) has arrived in town, so fans will just have to tune in to see how he reacts.
Lucifer Season 5, Part 1 is available to stream on Netflix.
