Love Island fans fume at ‘rushed’ finale which ‘didn’t give champs their moment’
Love Island fans were left fuming after Ekin-Su and Davide’s “rushed” winners announcement.
Last night (1 August) Laura Whitmore presented the final episode of the 2022 series in which finalists Ekin-Su and Davide, Gemma and Luca, Dami and Indiyah and Tasha and Andrew were told where they had placed.
Tasha and Andrew came in fourth and had a lengthy chat with Laura, as well as the chance to look back at their highlights reel.

Dami and Indiyah were next up in third place and sat down with the presenter to reflect on their time in the villa.
Then came the tense head to head final and both finalists sat down with Laura before the winner was announced.
Eventually, Davide and Ekin-Su were crowned the winners, but much to many viewers’ disbelief, after a brief outro from Whitmore the camera panned away and the credits rolled.
Fans were shocked that there was no closing segment and fumed that it had been “rushed”.
One upset fan suggested an alternative: “Love Island’s ending was so rushed, why not announce the winner and give them time to come to terms with it while we watch best bits or something?”
A frustrated viewer also added: “So rushed. Once the winter are announced, it’s like: ‘Get the f*** out of here,’” and signed off with laughing face emojis.
Another wrote: “They definitely rushed that last bit. No best bits of Ekin-Su and Davide, no option to split or steal the cash prize?”
Laura had mentioned briefly at the start of the programme that they had decided to scrap the “split or steal” element of the final, but it appears most of the audience hadn’t quite caught what she said as confusion descended upon Twitter.
Many were annoyed that the game show element had been removed from the final episode.
So far, no-one has stolen the prize money and each victor has gone home with £25,000, but fans were excited to see what Ekin-Su and Davide would do.
Some had previously claimed that they didn’t trust either party and thought they would be the ones to finally mix it up, but eager fans will never know.
One fan claimed to have rumbled the game plan and tweeted that Love Island bosses realised that “no-one will ever steal the envelope” as it’s “not worth everyone in the world hating them forever”.
