Joan Collins Gets COVID-19 Vaccine, Urges Others to Follow Suit

Joan Collins wants to lead by example.

The Dynasty star received a shot of the Oxford-AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine over the weekend and urged others to follow her lead.

"I just really want to tell anybody who is worried about it, there is nothing to worry about," Collins told Good Morning Britain on Monday. "It was the easiest thing. Just like a little scratch and there was no pain at all. And I had no after-effects and I felt absolutely fine. I went home and I had a drink, even."

"Do go. Please, go," added the soap legend, 87. "Honestly, I believe that the only way we're going to get over this pandemic is for everybody to get vaccinated as soon as they possibly can."

Collins received the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine at the Bloomsbury Surgery in London on Saturday — the same day as Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip received their own vaccinations against the virus.

The coincidental date wasn't lost on the actress, who was made a Dame of the British Empire in 2015.

"Bloomsbury surgery — thank you Mr. @rajgill2585 and @dr_ammarahughes for a painless and seamless procedure!" she posted on Instagram Sunday. "Same day as our Queen! #honoured #registernow."

Buckingham Palace announced on Saturday that the Queen, 94, and her husband, 99, who are both in the high-risk category, had been given vaccinations.

"The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh have today received Covid-19 vaccinations," a Buckingham Palace spokesperson told PEOPLE.

A royal source also confirmed that the vaccinations were administered by a Household Doctor at Windsor Castle. The source added that the monarch made the news public to prevent speculation and inaccuracies.

The Queen's grandson Prince William previously tested positive for the virus in April, after his father, Prince Charles, was diagnosed.

Last week, Denmark's Queen Margrethe became the first European sovereign to publicly receive a COVID-19 vaccine.
