Jayne Torvill in tears after watching Dancing On Ice contestant’s performance
Dancing on Ice judge Jayne Torvill broke down in tears after watching hot favourite Regan Gascoigne’s emotional performance on the ITV skating show.
On Sunday 6 March, the contestants took to the ice to try and impress the judges and make it all the way into the grand finale.
For week eight, the celebrities and their dance partners had the challenge of doing a Torvill and Dean inspired routine in front of the Olympic legends.
Regan, 26, and his skating partner Karina Manta stunned the judges with their performance and gained a perfect score of 40 for their efforts.
Yet, for Jayne, 64, it was an emotional reminder of the original dance that she performed with Christopher Dean at the World Championships in Barnum, which was their first big routine after their Mack and Mabel choreography.
Jayne commended Regan on his impressive dance, as she said: "We know that, technically, your skating has always been good, but tonight everything came together."
"The performance… I’m getting emotional now," Jayne said as she covered her face and began to choke back her tears.
An emotional Jayne then paused, as she was unable to finish her sentence and began to cry. The audience let out a sympathetic sigh, moved by her emotions.
Her fellow judge, Oti Mabuse, stepped in as Jayne wiped away her tears and added: “I love to see that.”
The former Strictly Come Dancing professional went on to tell Regan that his performance was now on a “different level.”
Oti continued: "Regan, for a couple of weeks, I kind of felt like you were on the same level for a while, but tonight was just a different level."
"This was expensive. Expensive in terms of you were so technically good."
Celebrity skater Regan then began to hold back his tears as the positive feedback from the judges rolled in.
Oti added: "I don't know why you are getting emotional – it's making me emotional. You'll make us all cry!"
"But that was fantastic and exactly what we want to see when we think of Regan skating."

The show's presenter Holly Willoughby then went on to comment on how much the praise must have meant to the star, as he held back his emotions.
Regan replied: "This is insane… it's such an honour getting to recreate something that was part of your life."
It’s not the first time someone has been moved by one of Regan's performances, as his dad, Paul Gascoigne, also broke down in tears after being “so impressed” by his son’s dancing.
While Regan topped the leader board after dazzling the judges, it was Paralympian Stef Reid who left the competition after fighting for her place in the competition in the tense skate-off.
