Jay and Ben help Lexi open up about Lola's death in EastEnders

Lexi Pearce (Isabella Brown) is set to struggle in the wake of mum Lola Pearce’s (Danielle Harold) tragic death in EastEnders, and Jay Brown and Ben Mitchell (Jamie Borthwick and Max Bowden) will do their best to support her.

With Ben having chosen to sell the Arches to Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean), he chooses to focus all of his attention on caring for Lexi following Lola’s death.

Lola died of a brain tumour after being diagnosed with the condition last October.

She underwent treatment to prolong her life, but later discovered that the chemotherapy had stopped working, leaving her with six months left to live.

However, when her palliative chemotherapy also failed to work, her tumour spread, meaning that her lifespan had shortened to just weeks.

It soon becomes clear that Lexi is struggling to open up about her grief for her mum, despite Ben’s efforts to bring her out of her shell.

After taking her for ice cream and trying to build her excitement at seeing Callum Highway (Tony Clay), Ben is disheartened when all Lexi wants to do is go home to Jay and go to bed.

Callum soon realises that Ben doesn’t know how to handle the situation and advises him to bring up Lola and allow grieving Lexi to talk about her mum.

The next day, Ben and Jay plan an emotional afternoon with Lexi and encourage her to reflect with them about her mum.

Thankfully, their efforts help the grieving girl open up, but will this help Ben and Jay to process their own grief?
