Helen Skelton has not been listed as one of the commentators for the 2021 Olympics in Tokyo for the BBC. Speaking after her last stint hosting the games, the Countryfile star revealed she felt the frenzy over her outfits would stop her from being asked back.

In an old interview, Helen said she found it “hilarious” her shorts and mini dresses caused such an uproar.

Of course presenting pool side in Rio would be hot which was why the mother-of-two opted for shorter outfits.

However, those watching her commentary at home, couldn’t stop talking about her dresses.

“Everyone’s still talking about it,” Helen told The Mail on Sunday’s Event magazine in 2019.

“Now the story’s evolved into something else. If I don’t get a gig on sport it’s because of the shorts.”

The presenter explained she felt it was unfair her wardrobe choices could stop her landing particular jobs.

“If I wanted to work in a fair industry I should have worked at the council,” she told the publication.

Helen “had no idea” her outfits had sparked such a frenzy at the time until she found out her dad was defending her on national TV.
