Is ‘big d*** energy’ the secret to Pete Davidson pulling some of the world’s hottest women? – The Sun
THEY say women love funny men and comedian Pete Davidson seems to prove the point.
The Saturday Night Live comedian, 26, has recently started dating the stunning 18 year-old model Kaia Gerber, daughter of supermodel Cindy Crawford.
The pair, rumoured to have been dating since the summer, were recently spotted shopping for groceries hand-in-hand in New York, and indulging in an intense game of tonsil tennis at a Miami pool.
As Pete’s newest love, Kaia joins a pretty impressive list of beautiful and famous exes which includes Ariana Grande, 26, and Kate Beckinsale, 46.
The comedian has openly joked about his ability to date the most beautiful women in the world – and is often ridiculed on Twitter for 'punching above his weight'.
But what is it about the 26-year-old comedian that keeps attracting some of the most eligible women in the entertainment industry?
Here, we examine the evidence.
Is it his BDE (big d*** energy)?
In May 2018 it was revealed that Pete was dating Ariana Grande.
Within a few weeks the pair were engaged, had bought a pet pig called Piggy Smallz and had inked their mutual love in matching tattoos.
Then Ariana – promoting her long-awaited album – referenced the size of Pete’s penis in a tweet, and soon everyone was talking about his 'Big D*** Energy' (abbreviated to BDE).
The five-foot-tall singer also alluded to Pete's nether region in her music video for the song Thank U, Next, where she wrote “HUUUUUUGE” underneath a photo of the couple in her burn book.
According to New York magazine, The Cut, BDE is a quiet confidence that comes from knowing you have an enormous penis and you know what to do with it – and Pete Davidson had it in spades.
While most men would love such flattery, when their whirlwind romance ended after four months, Pete claimed his ex's comments had a drawback.
He told an audience at Tarrytown Music Hall in New York: “I don’t like that she talked all that sh** for my penis. Everything is huge to her.
"Why would she tell everyone that I have a huge penis? So that every girl who sees my dick for the rest of my life is disappointed.”
Is it his love of PDA (public displays of affection)?
Perhaps Pete’s allure to women is the way he’ll happily demonstrate his affections via social media, his tattoos or just not being able to keep his hands off his current girlfriend in public.
Just a few months after his split from Ariana, Pete confirmed his romance with London-born actress Kate Beckinsale, 45, by packing on the PDA and passionately kissing as they sat courtside at a New York Rangers ice hockey game.
The pair met at the Golden Globes afterparty and had no issue with the 20-year age gap, with Kate telling American TV show Extra what she found attractive, saying, “Funny. I like funny.”
They split after four months and Kate told the Los Angeles Times she’d, “never dated anybody who comes with their own bag of mischief. It’s all quite shocking and something to get used to.”
An unapologetic love of smoking pot?
In 2017, Pete revealed he was diagnosed with a borderline personality disorder that leaves him depressed, “all the time.”
He also suffers from Crohn’s disease – a chronic inflammatory bowel disease that affects the lining of the digestive tract – and he revealed during an interview with Howard Stern in September 2018 that he smoked marijuana regularly to help with Crohn’s and his mental health issues.
“It helps more than you can imagine,” he said.
“There was a point where I couldn’t get out of bed. I was 110 pounds. I also just love smoking weed. I’ve been smoking weed every day for eight years.”
He did go into rehab and get sober for three months but told Stern it didn’t work: “I was never sadder and everything was way worse.”
After his stint in rehab, he shared his story on the SNL Weekend Update, joking about being sober, masturbating ‘all the bad kids out’, and horse therapy.
Is it his openness about his mental health?
Pete has been vocal about his mental health issues and in December 2018, took to Instagram to reveal he was struggling, writing: “I really don’t want to be on this earth anymore. I'm doing my best to stay here for you but I actually don't know how much longer I can last."
The 25-year-old finished his post with a love heart emoji, then deleted his entire Instagram account leaving fans extremely concerned, and causing ex Ariana to make a public apology via tweet, asking him not to do anything.
On earlier posts, the comedian told fans he’d been targeted by vile bullies online for nine months who, shockingly, urged him to harm himself.
On one post he wrote: "I just want you guys to know. No matter how hard the internet or anyone tries to make me kill myself. I won't.
"I'm upset I even have to say this. To all those holding me down and seeing this for what it is – I see you and I love you."
His 104 tattoos?
Pete lost his dad, a New York firefighter, during the September 11th terrorist attacks in 2001.
Pete was just seven at the time and was extremely affected by the death. Tattoos are clearly a way he likes to express himself – he has over 104 all over his body – and he has a number of them dedicated to his late father including the number “11” behind his left ear, a firefighter tattoo on his left arm and “IX” and the number nine inked just below it.
In an interview, he said, “I don’t let a lot of people know about my dad dying on 9/11. It’s not a way to introduce yourself.
"So I never told anybody, and then I would do jokes about it…and I think people thought I was lying about it. Which would be crazy.”
In a 2016 Comedy Central special he talked about growing up with his single mum who “had to do a lot of weird sh**” in the absence of his father – including buying her son a huge box of condoms as a gift.
“I just wanted to be like, ‘Ma, who the fuck do you think your son is?’” he says. “I never even brought a friend home, what made you think I was out there like slinging p****.”
His love-in with Hillary Clinton?
Pete supported Hillary Clinton in the 2016 US presidential election and on December 5th, 2017, he revealed on Instagram that he got a tattoo on her face on his leg.
He shared the snap of his inking and wrote: "Wanted to get @hillaryclinton a Christmas gift so I got a tattoo of my hero. Thanks for being such a badass and one of the strongest people in the universe."
Hillary thanked Pete for the compliment and joked: "This makes it significantly less awkward that I’ve had a Pete Davidson tattoo for years."
Whatever it is, he's clearly irresistible to the rich and famous…
