Loose Women got off to a fiery start as the panel discussed Matt Hancock’s resignation as Health Secretary after he was pictured breaching social distancing guidelines. Denise Welch expressed her fury that much of the public had followed the guidelines to keep their families safe throughout the coronavirus pandemic. She claimed many are fed up with the rules especially after Mr Hancock’s actions.
Kaye insisted the social distancing guidelines are still important to keep others safe but Denise stated everyone had enough.
“I will no longer abide by rules that make absolutely no sense on not keeping me safe and not keeping my family safe,” Denise commented.
Kaye cut in: “But I say the same as Judi [James]. That way lies anarchy, if we all make it up ourselves.”
“But maybe there has to be a little bit of anarchy,” Denise snapped.
Kaye exclaimed: “Oh come on!” as her co-star continued: “There was two million people on a march on Saturday, very few people covered that march.
“When the news later that night said, ‘What do you think has happened to make Matt Hancock resign after 48 hours?’
“Well, possibly two million people on a march for freedom. Those people were in the majority.
“People have lost their freedom. They are not anti-vaxxers and conspiracy theorists in the majority.”
As the argument began to die down, Denise made it clear she was tired of being worried about being cancelled for her opinions.
“I’m sick of being careful about expressing an opinion about anything,” she exclaimed.
