Loose Women saw Saira Khan leave the show for good earlier this year, after being a regular on the programme since 2015. She’s since moved onto other projects and is currently appearing in Channel 4’s reality series Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins. In a recent interview, the presenter has revealed what drove her to quit the ITV daytime show Loose Women.

Saira decided to quit Loose Women at the start of 2021, revealing in a statement at the time that 2020 gave her time to reflect.

She said: “So I start this new year by saying goodbye to Loose Women,” she said at the time.

“After five years of being a regular panellist, I’ve decided to give up my seat to another woman who will benefit from the platform as I did.”

In a recent interview with Express.co.uk and other press, Saira opened up on her experience on Celebrity SAS and how it pushed her to leave Loose Women.

Saira remarked: “I don’t need to prove myself, if you know what I mean, I think that was the biggest lesson.

“I came home and as a consequence, as a result of that, I did take big drastic steps in my life.

“When I came out I left Loose Women. It’s interesting, Andrea McLean had done SAS, and she left Loose Women too.

“It’s interesting because it does change… it changes your aspect of your life,” she revealed.

The presenter confessed she’s made several drastic changes to her life since filming Celebrity SAS.

Saira commented: “I wasn’t going to go back to the same s**t getting the same results.

“So, I’ve changed my life and I’m actually very happy about it,” she remarked.

Further detailing what she took away from her time on Celebrity SAS, Saira added: “The biggest lesson for me is to actually stop and start enjoying my life.

“Stop proving a wanting more and more and more. COVID I think, you know, taught me that but then taking it a further step,” she continued.

“For me, it was very important to recognise that if I don’t stop now and take stock of my life and my situation and what I’ve actually achieved for myself alone.

“I’m never going to get to that stage where I feel actually quite successful.”

Starring alongside Saira in the series are Alexandra Burke, Ore Oduba, James Cracknell, Kerry Katona, Ulrika Jonsson, Wes Nelson, Vicky Pattison, Jake Quickenden, Kieron Dyer, Aled Davies, and Shanaze Reade.

Despite taking a number of positives from her experience on Celebrity SAS, Saira made it clear the show can be tough.

The presenter revealed she suffered a serious injury while filming the Channel 4 show.

“I was left with lifelong scars, physical ones, and that’s very, very hard to cope with,” she commented.

Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins airs Sundays on Channel 4 at 9 pm.
