Hollyoaks fans predict awards success for the soap after Cleo McQueen's wedding episode
Ahead of World Mental Health Day tomorrow, E4’s first-look Hollyoaks aired a very special episode of the soap tonight (October 10) focusing on Cleo McQueen and her bulimia.
Cleo (Nadine Mulkerrin) has been struggling with her illness for some time now, and the reality of how dangerous a state she was in hit home as she collapsed at the altar after suffering a heart attack.
The episode showed Cleo waking up in hospital, with Farrah watching over her. She told her version of events to the psychologist, who later informed her of what had really happened that day.
The two contrasting stories were presented in flashbacks that cut back and forth, showing how Cleo’s perspective was altered from real life.
Viewers were full of praise for the episode and how it portrayed bulimia, as well as lauding Nadine Mulkerrin for her portrayal of Cleo too – and fans even shared their hopes that the episode would win awards come the season:
With Farrah telling Cleo that she is at risk of dying, will she able to turn things around? And how will fiancé Joel come to terms with everything that’s happened?
Hollyoaks airs weekdays at 6:30pm on Channel 4, with first-look episodes on E4 at 7pm.
