Gogglebox star Babatunde Aleshe joins I’m A Celebrity as it returns to Australia

Gogglebox star Babatunde Aleshe has decided to switch Mo Gilligan’s sofa for the jungle this year after it has been announced that he has signed up to I'm a Celebrity.

The star frequently appears on Celebrity Gogglebox and is quick with his one liners as he sits next to Mo Gilligan on the show.

A show insider said: “Bosses are really excited to have Babatunde in the mix. He’s become a firm favourite with Celebrity Gogglebox viewers and producers reckon he’ll be a great campmate.

“He’s been doing stand-up for years but it’s his banter and constant one-liners with best mate Mo on Celebrity Gogglebox that really impressed the casting team.

“It’s a great opportunity for him to head to the jungle.”

Babatunde is also known for his small role in EastEnders where he played a nurse called Sam who looked after Tanya Branning during her cancer battle.

It was confirmed earlier this year that I’m A Celeb would return to Australia for the first time since 2019.

Travels restrictions created by the Covid-19 pandemic made filming in Australia an impossibility for the 20th and 21st seasons of the show in 2020 and 2021 respectively

The last two series instead have been filmed in Gwrych Castle in Wales.

The castle tweeted the news to their followers and said it has been an "honour" to host the show for the past two years.

They said: "It was such an honour to host I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! for the last two years.

“As a small charity, we will always be grateful to ITV and I’m A Celebrity for the opportunity to host one of the most watched shows in the UK.”

The statement continued: “The show has showcased the true beauty of the Castle to millions of people, and has enabled us to carry out urgent repairs after years of neglect, vandalism and arson.

“We have a huge amount to do to bring the Castle back to its former glory, but we’re excited for the future.”
