Emmerdale star would 'refuse to leave' until Faith fixes relationship with Cain

Emmerdale star Sally Dexter has been speaking about her current storyline as Faith Dingle, who was recently told her cancer had returned.

After heading back to the Dales last year, Faith began to fear her cancer had come back after collapsing and feeling unwell.

However, after running a few tests, Manpreet (Rebecca Sarker) told Faith she actually had rheumatoid arthritis.

Sadly, a few weeks ago, Faith broke the news to Moira (Natalie J Robb) that her cancer had definitely come back.

During a trip to the hospital, Faith learnt her cancer is treatable – but not curable, meaning it will shorten her life.

This, of course, prompted Moira to question why Faith hasn’t told Cain (Jeff Hordley) and Chas (Lucy Pargeter), but she repeatedly argued she wanted to fix the relationship with her children and spend happier moments with them before the truth is revealed.

For Sally Dexter, who is nailing her performance every week as Faith, she’s been reflecting on her character’s relationship with Cain and Chas – and isn’t prepared to leave until things are stronger for this family unit!

‘It would be dreadful if we didn’t [repair her relationships], we’d be left on a minor chord, the end of the song wouldn’t be finished. It would be terrible, I couldn’t bear that, in fact I would refuse to leave until it was resolved. That could be a way of staying on!’

Discussing how Faith would feel when her children know the truth about her illness, Sally added:

‘She doesn’t know really how long she has got, so every minute is precious, even when he’s [Cain] being awful to her – and there are times when he’s really, really awful – she still wants him to be there, she still wants to be with him.

‘She loves him unconditionally. But she wouldn’t half like it if they got back together and were friends again.’
