Emmerdale posts behind-the-scenes clip of explosive gunfight – but it seriously backfires
EMMERDALE posted a behind-the-scenes clip of the soap's explosive gunfight – but it seriously backfired with viewers.
The ITV show was keen to explain to fans how they'd filmed the emergency services arriving to rescue Victoria Sugden, Wendy Posner and David Metcalfe.
The trio were being held hostage at gunpoint by Wendy's abusive ex Russ, who was trying to get money from Victoria.
The video posted to the show's Facebook account was titled: "How do you film police officers coming out of a van when you can't film police officers coming out of a van?"
Referring to social distancing restrictions put in since the start of the pandemic, the clip went on to show actors dressed as officers running from behind the van, instead of actually coming out of the vehicle's back doors.
But while intending to reveal a touch of TV magic, the post was ridiculed by followers, with many of the 300 comments berating the soap for 'poor' storylines.
One wrote: "What a load of crap these police scenes are…"
Another raged: "You really need to get a grip. Your story lines are either poor and absolutely mind numbingly boring or far fetched and beggar belief!
"I've been a fan for many years, but have stopped watching because of the downwards spiral of the scripts.
"Give yourselves a shake…you're better than this!"
While a third said: "Mad at the lack of authenticity of the faux police.
"I’ve never seen anyone look less like an armed response unit. They even let the public wander in without stopping them."

A fourth went a step further and commented: "Never in my life have I seen such useless coppers , worst acting ever / who is the producer ?
"He needs to find other employment".
The long-running programme is set to mark its 49th anniversary on October 16th, so has covered a range of storylines in its time.
It holds the title of the second longest running soap after Coronation Street.
They recently lost to Corrie, who bagged Best Serial Drama at the National Television Award – despite being winners for the previous four years.
