Emmerdale viewers have been keeping a close eye on Al Chapman (played by Michael Wildman) in recent weeks as he’s been scheming to ruin The Woolpack ever since he invested in the pub. The dodgy businessman has plans to knock down the iconic pub and build luxury apartments on the land instead. However, according to official ITV soap spoilers, The Woolpack will go up in flames on Christmas Day. Will Chas Dingle’s (Lucy Pargeter) life be put on the line as she desperately attempts to save her pub?
Chas, Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) and Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock) have long been wary of Al.
The trio’s suspicions first arose when he invested in the pub and swiftly began making changes.
They recently exposed Al’s scheming, but the villainous businessman is still determined to ruin the business.
As Al’s dodgy business partner Gavin (Ben Richards) continues to put pressure on him, could he take things one step too far?
In upcoming scenes on Emmerdale, there will be an inferno at The Woolpack on Christmas Day.
Could Al and Gavin be behind the fire as they continue with their plan to push Chas and Marlon to sell?
Emmerdale bosses have hinted it won’t just be the pub that’s destroyed on Christmas Day, suggesting some lives will be ruined too.
Producer Kate Brooks said: “It’s not just the Woolpack that goes up in flames on Christmas Day, as secrets and lies explode, ripping through the lives of some of our much-loved villagers and making it a Christmas they’ll never forget.”
Could this mean someone will be trapped in the pub when the fire blazes?
Ever since Chas first became suspicious of Al, she’s been desperate to foil his attempts to ruin the pub.
Her business was devastated by the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic, leaving her and co-owner Marlon clinging onto their livelihoods.
If she spots Al starting a fire at the pub, Chas will likely do anything she can to stop him.
She may end up running towards the flames on Christmas Day in a bid to save her beloved Woolpack.
However, as the fire is set to spark an explosion at The Woolpack, Chas could find herself in serious trouble.
Could Chas lose her life in the horrifying explosion?
The iconic pub has seen its fair share of devastation over the years as it has been struck by several disasters.
The Woolpack pub is at the heart of the village of Emmerdale and during its 49 years on screen has had over ten different proprietors.
This won’t be the first time the pub has gone up in flames as it previously burned down in 1998 when a candle was left burning.
Similarly, in 1993 the pub suffered damage due to the plane crash and when in 2003 a lightning strike caused its chimney to collapse it led to the untimely death of Tricia Dingle (Sheree Murphy).
In 2013 Cameron Murray (Dominic Power) took hostages at gunpoint in The Woolpack and the cellar was flooded for some action-packed tension.
Will The Woolpack see heartbreak again this Christmas, with Chas being killed in the fire?
Emmerdale fans will have to tune in to find out her fate.
Emmerdale continues Monday at 7pm on ITV.
