Brian Conley arrived on the long-running soap back in May 2021 and EastEnders newcomer Rocky has since been attempting to mend the ties to his estranged daughter Sonia (played by Natalie Cassidy). However, the BBC series has dropped one of its most shocking twists in recent memory as Sonia’s supposed father was confirmed to have been a sinister impersonator this whole time.
The latest episode of Eastenders concluded with a shocking bombshell as Rocky Cant was forced to give up his true identity.
Having returned to the square earlier this year to heal his relationship with daughter Sonia, it’s now been revealed he isn’t her real father after all.
His darker nature was first hinted at when he was arrested for scratching the car of Sonia’s unfaithful new boyfriend.
Once at the police station, he finally confirmed his real name – Thomas Cotton.
Not only has ‘Rocky’ been impersonating Sonia, he has also been hatching a twisted scheme with his niece Dotty Cotton (Milly Zero).
After being released Dotty gave ‘uncle Tom’ a lecture for nearly ruining their plans.
The next stage of their plot has yet to be revealed, but it seems the pair want to get their hands on Sonia’s inheritance from Dot Cotton (June Brown).
Uncle Tom could also be a long lost brother of Walford’s legendary villain Nick Cotton (John Altman).
Viewers were stunned by the latest revelations and will be sure to tune in on Thursday night to see what happens next.
On Twitter, a fan named Natalie said: “Rocky isn’t Sonias dad?!?!? I did not see that coming!”
Whilst SoapSpotlight wrote: “What a twist with Terry Cant… I mean… Thomas Cotton, WHAT! Can’t wait for this storyline.”
“Will the real Thomas Cotton please stand up!!” exclaimed Joanie JW.

“Poor Sonia led to believe he is her Dad and all the while plotting behind her back.”
Hopefully now Rocky/Thomas’s schemes have been revealed, Sonia can expose the truth and eventually reunite with her real father.
However, a recent interview with Brian Conley in Digital Spy suggests the shady newcomer could be lurking around Albert Square for some time.
“As he goes on he feels more strongly that this is his world now and he doesn’t want to give it up,” he explained.
“He’s very attached now to Sonia, he’s become very much a part of her world for some time now and he really feels like a fatherly figure without a doubt.
“To see this guy on another date, he just snapped without really thinking if he does this the big secret could possibly get out.”
Fans will have to keep watching to discover if Sonia’s fake dad goes through with Dotty’s plans, or whether he’ll have a change of heart after getting to know her after all these months.
EastEnders airs on BBC One Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
