EastEnders’ Keegan star Zack Morris says emotional goodbye to BBC soap and co-stars
EastEnders’ actor Zack Morris has broken his silence on his BBC soap exit, as he said an emotional goodbye to his Albert Square alter-ego Keegan Butcher Baker.
Soap fans watched in tears as Keegan reunited with his estranged wife Tiffany Butcher Baker (Maisie Smith) and declared that he was moving to Germany to be with her for good.
Taking to Instagram after the emotional scenes aired, the 23 year old star penned an emotional tribute to his character and co-stars.
He also reflected on how much the show had changed his life and why he would always be thankful to soap bosses for taking a chance on him.
Posting a series of snaps from his time on the soap, including with his on-screen family, Zack wrote: “And with that, it’s over and out from me…Playing Keegan Baker has been the most amazing experience I could of ever asked for.
“It’s almost impossible to put into words how much this show means to me. EastEnders gave me a fresh start in life, in a time where I was screaming for one.
“They believed in me from day one and gave me the chance I needed to show the world and myself that I’m here to stay and that dreams really can come true.”
Zack also opened up on his time on the iconic Albert Square set, giving a special shout out to his castmates and the hardworking crew behind the scenes.
He continued: “I always strived to work as hard as I could for the show, but my hard work doesn’t mean anything without the production team, the cast and crew.
“Without their constant support, their love and never ending encouragement, none of what you’ve seen of Keegan would of been possible.”
He sweetly added: “Everyone in that building will hold a solid place in my heart forever…”
Next Zack turned his attention to the soap’s diehard fans, thanking them for tuning in and watching Keegan’s journey.
He wrote: “AND a huge thank you to all the fans who continue to support the show and give it the praise it deserves.
“To all my friends and family (you all know who you are) THANK YOU for being there when I’ve needed you the most.
“You keep me grounded, your love is unparalleled and you help me stay hungry to strive and do better. I love you all.

He rounded off the touching message saying that although he’d left Walford behind, he knew the bonds he created would remain forever.
Zack concluded: “I may be leaving EastEnders but I can assure anyone who reads this, I won’t be leaving empty handed.
“My heart is full, my head is held high, and there is a fire in my belly like never before.
He added: “I will never stop striving to better myself and I’m buzzing for the next chapter in my life.
