Corrie star blasts Covid conspiracies and urges everyone to get the vaccine
Coronation Street star Jimmi Harkishin has urged everyone to get the Covid-19 vanncine.
The actor — who has portrayed Dev Alahan for 22 years — has urged people to get their Covid jabs, after conspiracy theorists wrongly claimed that the vaccine contains meat and alcohol — which are banned in some religions.
‘We are all living in such difficult times but Covid-19 has been affecting the Asian communities disproportionately,’ Jimmi told The Sun.
‘Whatever the reasons for that, whether they are social or medical, it is very important for us to firstly follow the guidelines and secondly embrace the vaccination programme.
‘I know there has been an awful lot of misinformation, rumour and speculation about the vaccine but I can’t stress how important the vaccine is in the battle against Covid.
‘For the sake of yourself and your families, when you get contacted please please go for the vaccination.’
Jimmi has portrayed Dev on the ITV soap since 1999. Between then and now, Dev has been at the centre of some of the greatest storylines.
From his relationship with Sunita (Shobna Gulati), to ‘Mad’ Maya Sharma’s (Sasha Behar) reign of terror, the shop owner has been through just about everything!
Dev’s kids Asha (Tanisha Gorey) and Aadi (Adam Hussain) recently celebrated their 16th birthday, and Dev celebrated by getting their initials put on the shop sign.
