PETER Barlow hits the bottle next week in Coronation Street after being violently assaulted in a terrifying carjacking.
The alcoholic will relapse into alcoholism after a passerby offers him a swig of whisky from his hipflask in the wake of the theft.

Viewers of the ITV soap know that Peter recently helped former drug addict Abi Franklin get her life back on track after she suffered a relapse when given painkillers for an accident at work.
But it looks like the tables are about to turn next week as Peter is faced with his own addiction demons.
The upcoming scenes will see Peter try to cheer up Simon following the court’s decision that Oliver’s life support should be withdrawn.
But when Carla has a different view to Peter, the pair clash and end up having a vicious argument.
Later, Peter's day gets even worse as a thug approaches and orders him to give him a lift.
When Peter refuses, the thug beats him up and leaves him covered in blood before stealing his cab.
Barry, a passerby, calls the police and hands him a hipflask full of whisky.
Disaster strikes as Peter can’t resist taking a swig.
Later in the week, Carla asks Peter to join her in a hotel she’s booked for a conference, but Peter makes an excuse.
When Barry calls at the pub to check how Peter is doing, Abi is immediately suspicious and laters confronts him.
Peter tells her about the whisky incident but assures her it was a one off.
But Abi isn’t convinced and warns Carla that he needs help.
Carla sits Peter down for a chat and eventually drags the truth out of him, but he continues to insist everything is fine.
Later in the week, disaster strikes when Johnny and Jenny find a sozzled Peter in the bar.
The couple take Peter to hospital, where he wakes to find Carla by his side.
Peter tells Carla he loves her and doesn’t deserve her, but will she be understanding about his relapse?
Later in the week, Peter continues to spiral and Adam finds him in Victoria Garden clutching an unopened bottle of whisky.
Could he be about to lose Carla?
