Coronation Street fans fear tragic new twist after Joseph suffers ‘health scare’

After losing her job at the Rover’s Return and learning that her twin brother is suffering from Motor Neurone Disease, it’s safe to say that Gemma Winters life on the Coronation Street cobbles has been far from easy in 2023.

But things look set to get even worse for the mum of five in the coming days, as her stepson Joseph is faced with a terrifying health scare, that soon leads her taking the youngster to A&E.

The situation first began to unfold during Wednesday evening’s visit to Weatherfield, when Joseph began to complain of blurred vision, tiredness and a headache that wouldn’t go away.

After initially trying to shrug off his symptoms, Gemma tried and failed to make an appointment with a doctor, but when his symptoms continued to persist, the worried mum raced to A&E to try and get him seen.

Following the visit, a doctor decided that Joseph was fine, but Gemma still had an inclining that something wasn’t quite right and opted to keep him off school while she searched the internet for answers – something which Joseph’s father later mocked her for.

According to Chesney, Joseph was just doing what “kids do all the time”, as he had appeared to perk up while walking past the kebab shop earlier in the day – but is Gemma right to be worried?

Fans at home seem to think so, with several taking to social media to voice their fears for what could be impacting on the schoolboy’s health.

“Oh dear! What’s up with Joseph?!” wrote one fan.

A second echoed a similar thought, as they added: “Persistent headaches don’t sound good. Is Joseph really sick?”

Before a third fan suggested: "Maybe Joseph needs glasses?"

However, one viewer had a very different theory, as they predicted that Gemma may fall down the trap of becoming overprotective, and could even make Joseph’s symptoms worse in the process.

One fan asked: “I wonder if Gemma will start to be become overprotective of Joseph?”

While a second wondered if Joseph may even have a hand in Paul Foreman’s death, if he accidentally infected his uncle with a cold amid his ongoing MND battle!

They wrote: “Omg has Joseph infected Paul with a life ending cold?!”

As regular fans will know, Paul’s recent diagnosis of the debilitating degenerative disease has had a huge impact on Gemma’s life, with the worried sibling already having broken down in tears several times after learning of her twin’s terminal diagnosis.

But could this have lead to her experiencing health anxiety over Joseph instead, or is the youngster really unwell?

Coronation Street continues Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV and ITVX
