Claire King says Kim Tate is 'camp as Christmas' in Emmerdale's 50th celebration
Claire King has opened up about her Emmerdale character, revealing that Kim Tate is as ‘camp as Christmas’ in the upcoming special episode.
This week marks the show’s 50th anniversary of special episodes, with Claire at the centre of it all.
At the National Television Awards last night, the cast and crew of Emmerdale celebrated their big anniversary with several wins, including Best Serial Drama.
Speaking about her character to Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary on This Morning today, Claire revealed: ‘I mean I’ve had some great storylines, I get some good one-liners.’
Speaking about Kim, she added: ‘She’s camp as Christmas, as you’ll see in the wedding on Sunday.’
Claire added that her character is ‘very straightforward’, and ‘blatantly truthful,’ adding: ‘People would like to be like that and be able to say and do the things that she gets away with.’
She also spoke about how it was a ‘complete honour’ to be back as ‘one of the central characters’ for the celebration week.
The fireworks that are bound to explode during the stormy anniversary episodes have previously been teased.
As Kim prepares to tie the knot with Will, she overhears Harriet (Katherine Dow Blyton) telling Will that she loves him. This is bound to leave Kim seething – but how far could she go?
Producer Kate Brooks previously shared, ’I think it’s completely safe to say that Kim’s dark side is never far away!
‘Kim Tate is such an iconic character and she is capable of many dastardly things so, when she finds out that Harriet has been making a play for her man, there will be consequences.
‘How Kim will deal with this still remains to be seen but it’s going to be a really complex love triangle that will have explosive consequences.’
This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV.
