Brian Cox has hinted that there is more to Alec Baldwin's fatal shooting of Halyna Hutchins than meets the eye.
The Succession actor was appearing as a guest on BBC Breakfast when host Charlie Stayt asked for his opinion on the tragic killing.
Brian then revealed to Charlie and co-host Naga Munchetty that he is a friend of Alec and expressed his sympathy for the actor as he admitted feeling "terrible" for him.
He said: “Alec, who is a friend, I just can’t imagine what it’s done to him.
“He’s 68, in the last ten years he’s got five kids, which is a whole new life for him, really, late in life.
“I just feel terrible for him, and, of course, I feel awful for that poor girl.”
Brian, 75, then referred to his own experience on movie sets as he admitted he hadn't known anything like this to happen before but did know they had been having crew issues in the build-up to the incident.
He then hinted that there is more to what happened with the prop gun – which turned out to be loaded despite reassurances that it was in fact safe.
He added: “There was something that went on with that gun.
"I don’t know what it was, I’ve been told what it was but I can’t tell you what it was here. I’ll tell you after what it was.”
Alec was left distraught after he accidentally shot dead cinematographer Halyna and seriously injured director Joel Souza while filming his latest project.
While Ms Hutchins was fatally wounded as the bullet passed through her, Joel was hit in the clavicle and survived the wound.
At the time the Santa Fe based movie set for Rust was reportedly immediately locked down as an ambulance and helicopters rushed to the scene to provide medical care.
Halyna sadly passed away in the helicopter on the way to the hospital.
Meanwhile, Alec was allegedly heard repeatedly asking why he had been given a "hot gun" and exclaiming “in all my years, I’ve never been handed a hot gun.”
