Due to safety fears for contestants and crew of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! a decision was made on Friday to pull the live show from screens, with ITV instead showing a pre-recorded programme. Over the weekend though, Storm Arwen caused further chaos, and due to further risk and later damage to the set at Gwrych Castle, episodes were cancelled altogether. On Monday, the repercussions of the harsh weather meant the show was once again axed. Luckily, Ant and Dec informed fans the series would reprise on Tuesday, but appearing on This Morning, they warned more bad weather was on its way.

This Morning hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby chatted to Ant as well as co-star Dec Donnelly as they appeared via video from Wales.

“So, how is everybody now?” Phillip asked. “They’re all back out of the hotels, they’ve been in their bubble, they’re back in the castle, you’re back on the telly tonight – what’s the feeling like amongst everyone?”

Looking sheepish, Ant, 46, replied: “Well, there’s a slight worry because I think there’s more bad weather coming next week.”

“Oh no, stop!” Holly gasped.

Ant continued: “But I think it’s just temperatures dropping and maybe a bit of snow, a bit of frost, so I think we can cope with that…”

He quickly crossed his fingers, adding: “I mean – touch wood, touch wood!”

Laughing, Dec commented: “We never get this in Australia!”

“That’s what I was going to say,” Holly remarked. “We’ve seen pictures of you going on very cold walks.

“It’s not those sunny beaches of Oz, ey? No golf courses.”

“Look,” Ant stated. “It’s been a challenge, but I said the team have been fantastic, we’re back on air tonight, and we can’t wait to get going again.

“Because it was just hitting its stride, the show was, and it was such a shame we came off air for those few days.”

The weather chaos has marked the first time in the show’s history episodes have had to be pulled from the schedule last-minute.

In its 19-year history, I’m A Celeb has managed to air each planned episode.

Last year marked the first series which was switched from the heat of the Australian jungle to the cold of north Wales in November, due to COVID-19 imposed travel restrictions.

With the pandemic ongoing, the show returned to the Welsh castle once again this year, but the location has proved to be problematic.

The three-day cancellation left fans worried the current series might be pulled from TV altogether.

Although Tuesday’s episode seems set to go ahead, further cancellations can’t be ruled out.

It’s hoped frosty conditions won’t have too much of an impact as viewers anticipate the show’s return.

During the short hiatus, the celebrities were removed from the castle as a safety precaution, but are believed to be back now.

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! continues on Tuesday at 9pm on ITV.
