Ant & Dec take a cheeky swipe at David Walliams over failure of ITV's The Nightly Show
Comedy kings exchanged jokes on Twitter over the success of their competing ITV shows.
When David Walliams turned his jests towards Ant & Dec, the twosome returned with an even more fiery response.
David took a trip down memory lane and brought back a picture from the prime time PJ & Duncan era, much to the delight of his two million Twitter followers.
His caption read, “Style has always been very important to @antanddec”, as the picture shows the pair smiling in their best ’90s tangerine dream outfits, complete with enough hair gel to constitute a fire hazard.
Never the ones to miss out on a bit of fun, the TV duo retorted with a jab at David’s comedy career, putting the spotlight on his short-lived gig as a presenter on The Nightly Show.
The Nightly Show was cancelled by ITV after just one series in 2017, which was met with poor reviews and ratings, paling in comparison to Ant & Dec’s hit Saturday Night Takeaway and daily stints on I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! The latter won a number of TV Choice Awards this year.
Ant & Dec tweeted back to their six million fans, “Hilarious David. You should be on TV every night doing stuff like that…”
They added, “oh hang on…” and a cheeky face palm emoji to a picture of David sitting proudly in the seat of the ill-fated show, which featured a list of celebrity hosts.
This isn’t the first time David has teased the two, but this back and forth proved to be a treat for fans, as they tweeted that Ant & Dec had won the shade war by a long way.
