All over for Stephen as police receive evidence of his murder in Corrie

Back in April, Coronation Street viewers saw Stephen Reid (Todd Boyce) commit his third killing. In an eerie flashback sequence we saw him turn up at the lavish home of businessman Rufus Donahue (Steven Meo).

He drugged Rufus, and as Rufus wandered close to his swimming pool Stephen pushed him in, and held his head underwater until he drowned. It was a shocking crime, but one that Stephen has so far managed to avoid any consequences for.

He’s similarly managed to get away with his two previous killings, of Leo Thompkins (Joe Frost) and his dad Teddy (Grant Burgin)

His luck could be set to change in upcoming episodes after the inquest into Rufus’s death is concluded. The verdict is death by misadventure, which means that they think nobody else is to blame.

Rufus’s wife Lou isn’t satisfied with that, though, particularly when she receives a bag of Rufus’s things that the police took from the scene when he died. Among the items is a tie pin.

Lou doesn’t recognise the tie pin, but Stephen does because it’s his. And when Lou tells him and Carla (Alison King) that she’s taking the tie pin to the police because it’s obviously connected to her husband’s killer, Stephen really starts to panic.

Todd Boyce told us that the more desperate Stephen gets, the more likely he is to make mistakes.

‘We are going to see him start taking risks as he gets more desperate, his life is starting to unravel and it is going to be interesting to see how he deals with the pressure,’ he told us. ‘He is bound to start making mistakes and that could be his undoing.’

Could this be the beginning of the end for Stephen Reid?
