The Mack's Max Julien has passed away after his wife found his body on New Year's Day.

The actor died on his birthday and was 88 years old.

Many celebrities have poured tributes to the star following the tragic news of his death.

His PR team told TMZ that Julien's wife found him dead early this morning (January 1).

In a statement they paid tribute to the star's life, saying: "During Julien's decades-long career, he was known for being bold, honest and straightforward.

"He would live and speak his own truth both professionally and privately. He was thought of as a rare 'man among men'."

The tragic news of his death was broken by comic book writer and producer David F Walker.

He had posted a tribute to the star online.

He wrote: "Max Julien Jan. 1, 1945 – Jan. 1, 2022, I met Max back in 1996. He was a great human being, and we had so many amazing conversations. He was brilliant and hilarious and charismatic… R.I.P"

His cause of death has not yet been disclosed by his family or PR team.

Julien was known for his role as Goldie in The Mack, but he appeared in many hit TV shows and films.
